As we wait for more members to join, how about the rules? How many players are we drafting? 18? 20? I was thinking that we use the same figures that NHL GM's are being capped at ($44M) and the actual player salaries available at www.nhlpa.com.

How about a regular team roster of 20?
12 forwards 6 d-men 2 goalies

Works for me.
What should happen when a player gets injured? Do you get to sign another player if you have cap room left? Release the injured player?
How are we gonna work scoring? Will PP/SH goals be worth more than an even strength goal?

What about a extra few million for like a 5 man minor league team? This is probably a bad Idea but most people have an idea of who is going to be called up when someone is injured for a certain team.

What should happen when a player gets injured? Do you get to sign another player if you have cap room left? Release the injured player? Probably the best bet would be to release the injured player, and sign another one. This would be one of the challenges because you want to save some cap space to ensure that if one or two players DO get injured during the season, then you can still afford a decent replacement. I'm not trying to run this thing because it was Test's idea, but I'll throw in a scoring suggestion: Forwards:Goal: 2 pts Assist: 1 pt PPG: 1 pt SHG: 3 pts GWG: 5 pts Defensemen:Goal: 2 pts Assist: 1 pt PPG: 1 pt SHG: 3 pts GWG: 5 pts (Only the 5 points without the other points added in. Basically, it's the regular goal with a few points more because it won the game) +/- (Add points/lose points) Goalies:Goal: 20 pts Assist: 3 pts Win: 2pts Shutout: 5 pts And if you want you can add points for trophies at the end of the season. Thoughts?

I like it. No one else chimed in. That worries me a bit.

I think you need to decrease the point totals for goalies. Make a win 2 or 3 points, and a shutout something like 5 points. Other than that, it sounds good.

hmmm, good point. That would balance it out more...
Joe Thornton would have had 195 points with the above system. Miikka Kiprusoff would have had 310 with IceStick's original. With your suggestion at 3 points per win and five for a shutout, he'd be knocked down to 176 points.

Question, just so I know.
Lets say someone takes Sakic, would someone else be able to take him too?(like WWE fantasy, Test) I'm sure I know the anwser already, just want to make sure.

I'd say no, if I was deciding (but that means a draft, which are always complicated) as opposed to just submitting a list. We could always use jovian's IRC chatroom idea for the draft. If that's the direction we go

Yeah, I'd be in favor of the draft, even though it's sure to complicate things a bit.

The Leafs board on Scout had one like this last season. I would suggest keeping it as simple as possible. We had 12 forwards, 6 d-men and 2 goalies for a 20-man roster.
Points for skaters were simple: One point equals one fantasy point. I think goalies got 2 points for a win and an extra 3 for a shutout.
We had the option of making 3 trades during the season, but that resulted in a tremndous amount of work for teh person keeping track of the pool.
I'd suggest the simple scoring mentioned above and no trades. Live and die by injuries.
