I've seen this work on other message boards that I go to often and thought we might as well do it here. I've actually found some pretty good books this way.
I typically read three books at of varying genres to always have something close by regardless of my mood.
Currently, I am reading: Stephen Sondheim: A Life by Meryle Secrest The Language of God: A Scientist Presents Evidence for Belief by Francis S. Collins The City of Ember by Jeanne Duprau
When you start something new...make a new post.

A Murder in Belmont by Sebastian Junger
This is the same guy that did the Perfect Storm. He was raised in a suburb outside of Boston, and as a kid the Boston Strangler did work on his house. I'm not too far into it yet, but I believe he goes back and recounts the whole story using all available information. Great writer, and I would recommend it.

Deception Point by Dan Brown. Blah. I had run out of books and this was lying around the house, so I figured I'd give it a try.
It's not really doing a good job of making me want to read it, but since I started it...I might as well finish it.

Is that the one with the code breaker at the secret government facility whose linguist fiance gets sent off on a top secret mission?

I actually haven't gotten very deep into the book yet, so the plot is still developing. All I know is that it's about NASA finding something very important and to verify the authenticity of the find, the White House calls on the President's opponent's daughter (Rachel Sexton) to check it out.

I have Digital Fortress... I just haven't started it yet.
The last book I read was my Security+ Study Guide.

Patronus, one you might like baseball related is Fantasyland. I know you would be one of the people who appreciate it as much as me.

I think she is headed back to school today, so might be a little while before getting set up.
Honestly, I was surprised just how good a read it turned out to be. Anyone who has ever taken Fantasy Baseball even slightly serious would enjoy it a lot. It also gives a lot of insight to make of the guys who run the top sites in the country.

Just finished "Maximum Ride: The Angel Experiment" by James Patterson. Lately I haven't been able to concentrate well on my reading, so I picked that up because it's light and easy. Three page chapters, just like Patterson's suspense crime books, but this was almost a children's book. Pretty good.
Other books I got into a bit and then gave up for now due to my aforementioned lack of concentration:
Ilium by Dan Simmons The Chalice by Phil Rickman Reality Dysfunction Book One by Peter F Hamilton
These are all very good books, but they deserve my full attention, so I set them aside until I get off this ADD kick I have lately! ;D
Someone gimme some Karma!!!!!!!

Ghosts of Vesuvius by Charles Pellegrino ...
Trace by Patricia Cornwell is in my handbag for doctor's offices, waiting to pick up young LTR etc.
I've got a new Clive Cussler in the other room, but I can't remember the title - that'll become the 'handbag' book when I'm done with Trace ...
A stack of craft & hobby books by my chair I'm slowly making my way through ...

(Sorry about creating the dupe thread.)
I'm almost through with A Short History of Everything by Bill Bryson. It's a fantastic introduction to science for us unsciency folks. Bryson is a great writer and is quite funny. I also highly suggest his book A Walk in the Woods. Very funny take on hiking the Appalachian Trail. Up next will either be Jon Ronson's The Men Who Stare at Goats or Paul Theroux's Dark Star Safari.
