What is the ruling on signatures? Do you have it so that only text may appear in the signature area? What about used real estate? For example, can someone make their signature be 50 lines tall if they so choose? If this has already been addressed, please point me in the right direction. I did a homefan.proboards search on the word 'signature', but nothing came up.

I'd prefer not to see huge billboard-like signatures like we did on the other site when they were enabled.
I don't think we've had any discussion on it yet. Do you have any suggestions? How many pics maximum and how many lines of text?
By the way...each user may choose to block all signatures and/or avatars here on proboards.
Click on your name, modify profile....

Completely agree Test. The HUGE signatures people had over on Scout really drove me nuts. Its the reason why we disabled them on some of the boards. If people would keep them at a minimum, things would be fine. Why do people even need pics in their signatures? Isn't that what a avatar is for? I vote for only a few lines of text.

My suggestion is to keep signatures enabled, but text only. Also, if there is a way to keep them at one or two lines, that would be ideal. If none of these are possible, then I say that you ban signatures because you know darn well that people will have those awful billboard-like signatures again. Jeffbear did a great thing in turning off signatures on the Hurricanes board just for that reason alone.

Instead of just banning them, how about they do not post automatically.....make it so you have to check 'post signature' for every post if you want it to show?

You guys do realize that you can disable the display of signatures in your own profiles, right? Any user can. They don't have to be staff. Click and then "Modify Profile." Change "Show all signatures" to no. You can also change "Show Avatars" to no, and set menus to Text Only. Helpful if you're on dial-up. Otherwise, a general rule about avatars can be drawn up. I'll post something in that regard in a little while, to see if we all agree.
