Anyone here a Raptor Fan? Wanted to hear your thoughts on the overhaul of the Team. Do you think Colangelo is making all the right moves?

I refused to watch the Raptors until they fired Babcock. Fortunately it happened sooner rather than later.
I'll reserve judgement on the team until games start though. I certainly think Colangelo got rid of a lot of problems, but whether he added the right pieces, I don't know.
Should be in for a much better season this year though. One that should probably end up with the Raptors playing one of the East super powers in the first round.

I use to be a huge raptor fan when they had vince and t-mac, but now not as much to be honest...
Hopefully t.j. has a good season, too bad to see charlie v gone...he was my favorite on the current team

Couldn't be anymore excited for the season to begin. Like most, I have a few questions about the team heading into the year, but I think we're going to be much improved over the past few years, just by having guys around who want to win and be part of a team.
Andrea Bargnani, based on what I've been able to see/hear/read, looks like he's going to become a really good player eventually and will probably help form one of the best front court duo's in the league with Bosh.
I'm not a huge fan of losing CV, he was a great guy, but I think the trade does make some sense in that it fills a big hole, keeps the star happy, and allows more touches for Bargs.
Anyone going to the opener?

I love the new Europtor's.
Chaz HAD to go. It was mandated that no city could have 2 rookie sensations with alopashia. Milwaukee was in need for one. We got TJ Ford in return.
This team is gonna either win 124-121 games..or lose 124-86 games.
They will be a blast.
And yes, I will wager the over on every single game.

Colangelo let me down a bit. He came in with the #1 pick and a substantial amount of cap space, and the Raptors finish the off-season with: Bargnani, Rasho, Parker, Garbajosa, and Jones? That's four role players in their late-20's/early-30's, and one good young player with potential. He then traded Villanueva (at Charlie's highest value) for TJ Ford, who expires the same time as Bosh (so Ford will have to be extended as well). I was never a fan of Ford. Small point guards who rely on quickness but can't shoot and can't defend shouldn't be acquired for quality bigs.
The Raptors should be better in 2006-07, but color me disappointed in terms of the player movement.

but thats the great thing..
two BIG guys that can shoot - Bosh and Bags a couple guys that can run and shoot - Mo and Jones a fasssssst pg that can get fastbreaks moving and a bunch of "role players" that cost minimal in $$ and have big upside.
as far as a team that can be adaptable and have some flexibilty for $$ down the road Coangelo did okay.
I wil admit I would have been happier if instead of Rasho if they could have gotten Mags in the Ford deal...but meh...notsobad IMO.

Do you think Colangelo is making all the right moves? you really can't say he has made all the right moves. he certainly has made some good moves. but he also took some big gambles. i am really intrigued to see how this team comes together. it is hard for me to really get a feel with out actually having watched this group play. i will say i am optimistic for the first time in a long time about this team again. can't wait for the season to start.

Raptor fan here.
So far I like what Colangelo has done although I'm weary about the Garbajosa signing. An unathletic undersized PF who has never played in the NBA signed for 3yrs 12mil is a bit of a reach IMO but we'll see how that goes.
I like the Ford-Villanueva trade though. It was basically equal talent but with the Raptors filling a huge need. Charlie had a solid rookie year but there simply was no room for him. He was also soft and an atrocious defender but then again, you could've said that about nearly every single Raptor last year not named Peterson.
I still don't think the Raptors will be a playoff team next year though. I see them battling for the 8th seed but eventually coming up short at 9th or 10th.
