What is a Network Adapter?
And how do you put one in a computer?
I was trying to download some software to a computer for a cable hook-up and it said that it needed a Network Adapter.

What is a Network Adapter? And how do you put one in a computer? I was trying to download some software to a computer for a cable hook-up and it said that it needed a Network Adapter. It's what I was telling you about in your "transfer files" thread. It's a piece of hardware in a computer that Windows, (or Linux, or whatever you run) can use to communicate with the internet or another computer. Nowadays, it's built into most PCs. But on older ones, you added a "card" inside to one of the empty slots. That card had a jack on the back of it that (typically) looks like a phone line jack, only larger. Then, you simply connect a cable between that jack and a cable modem; or another computer; or a router. A couple clicks of a mouse to change some settings on the computer, and presto! Your computer is talking to another one.
