Preseason predictions!
Maurice and Peca prove to be a drag on the team's preformance.
The young guys compensate and make signing Gill and Peca bad moves.
Raycroft rebounds with a solid season.
Leafs fight for 7 to 9 in the conference, down to the wire.

Most boring Leaf team in memory
Raycroft + young D carries the team most nights
Leafs miss playoffs again
Peca won't come close to 10 goals
Wellwood will score 30
Antropov will be replaced by Gill as new whipping boy
Tlusty will be among the last cuts

I'm wiht BH on Tlusty. I think he is going to make a real push to make the team. In fact, I think there is a pretty good chance that he makes it. He only fell as far as he did because a lot of teams thought they would have difficulty signing him. He is a top-ten talent whose size and physical game may permit him to be a solid player in the NHL at 18.
Kubina will be the whipping boy of Leafs fans when they question why the team is paying a 25 point #3 defenseman $5mn per.

Ok here's my prediction.
- The Leafs will be one of the lowest scoring teams in the league, both for and against.
- Raycroft gets off to an average starts but plays better as the team gets a better grip of the defensive system Maurice uses. Raycroft will be among the 7 lowest GAA starters at the all-star break.
- Different players will take turn playing on Sundin's win throughout the season, as Sundin once again carries his line and gets little support from his wingers.
- Antropov will get injured at some point of the season (can I even call that a prediction? Sigh)
- Wellwood will finish the season top 5 in points on this team
- White, if given the chance to play, will get ahead of Colaiacovo in depth chart.
As far as the season goes ... I believev this is not the final roster yet, but I believe ...
- The Leafs will finish 5th-7th in the East, and if the stars line up for us and we stay healthy we might even be fighting for homeice advantage in April.

I think you guys are on the right track. If there's one thing that defined Maurice's Carolina teams it's that they were tough to play against. They didn't score a lot ... but there were never an easy out.

I get a feeling the Leafs will win the Stanley Cup this season, and don't ask me why. They'll finish third or fourth overall in the East. I think their strength will be in the youth - I agree that Wellwood will have a good season. I think we'll finally see Sundin slow down from his point-per-game pace he's more or less maintained throughout his career; he'll finish with around 60-65 pts in 78-80 games.

I agree with 17 in everything except the last one. I don't think we'll be fighting for home ice, i think we'll be more of a 6-8 team, fighting for face the Sens so that we can get to the 2nd round.

Well, I did say if the stars line up for us then we'll be fighting for home ice advantage ...

I'll make my predictions closer to the start of the season.
