Had lunch at Jack Asters and there he was. If possible, the guy's arms look to be even bigger.
Didn't have much time to talk to him, he was talking with some other fans so I just wished him luck in Boston. Friendly guy.

I wonder what he orders when he goes out? I imagine he's a pretty hefty eater.

I wonder what he orders when he goes out? I imagine he's a pretty hefty eater. I think it was a couple of burgs and a salad. To be honest, I didn't even notice him until he stood up and the friend I was with said, "holy poop, look at the size of that guy...wait a sec, it's...".

I ran into him once and he was a really nice guy. After me and my buddies introduced ourselves we didnt know what to say but he initiated conversation and we ended up talking about golf for a few minutes.

I've met him before too, at Baton Rouge. Pretty cool he's still in Ottawa. And yes, he's a really nice guy.

At last year's rookie tournament, he was there sitting in the stands with Randy Lee (I believe). A father brought his little boy (couldn't have been older than 5 or 6) to meet Chara and get his autograph. When Chara stood up to give the little boy whatever it was he just signed, the little boy jumped into Chara, trying to bodycheck him. Everyone around just started laughing, including the big man.
That little guy certainly wasn't shy.

You know something....
I think no matter how much booing or dislike some Sens fans may now have for Chara, Ottawa will still have a soft spot for him. It's not like the strongest memories we will have of him are those of him following the $$.
I wonder what kind of reception he'll get on Dec. 19....

I am hoping he'll get some respect...I have managed to get over the initial annoyance from the kick-in-the-teeth, and am ready to thank him for his time. I am still pissed that he picked BOSTON though.....I may forgive him one day (the day the Sens beat the Bruins with Chara in the line-up, then I'll consider us square).

we had better not boo that guy when he comes here. i will be absolutely disgusted if that happens. he's done nothing to deserve that, and i think we will look really bush league if we boo the guy.

Agreed. Chara deserves to be treated with respect. He worked hard at improving his game and becoming a good member of the Ottawa community.

His agent said that there was another team that offered him even more money. For all we know it was Toronto. I'm not mad at Chara for leaving. The whole situation at the time was annoying, with his camp not telling Muck's what number they were looking for, but whatever. Does anyone know what kind of reception Hossa got when he came back? I'm assuming he got a kind welcome, but you never know, there are a lot of stupid people out there.
