www.newsobserver.com/796/story/471029.htmlBottom line ... good news is good news, but remember that the club started the 2005-06 season with a STH base of only about 6,000 and that this increase basically just puts them back within range of where they were after the 2002 Finals. Still ... better than bad news.

Yeah, that is good to read. I think that walk-up sales will still be strong, especially on the weekends. If you don't have any sort of season tix that covers Friday, Saturday and/or Sunday games, you may be out of luck.

I know of a bunch of people who have just started getting into hockey while we went for the Cup. I sure hope they "stay on the wagon"

Well, I do agree with Rutherford that the club is better positioned to keep those people intersted now than they were in 2002-03 when much of the core group was significantly older. I mean, Francis and Irbe aged quickly and the shine was off the apple just like THAT.
This version of the Canes is much better positioned to remain competitive ... I just hope tat newbie expectation levels don't rise ahead of reality too much. During the last month of the regular season in 2005-06, we had a LOT of grumbling in the stands as the Hurricanes sort of limped towards the post season ... seems to me that most of those folks had bought tickets in expectation of a playoff run and expected to see top level hockey every night. Even with really good teams, you just don't always get their best EVERY night.

Yeah, the boys definitely hit their season valley at a bad time, but when they climbed out, they did their best Sir Edmund Hillary impression.
