Yeah...I was listening to The Fan alot this morning. I didn't catch who it was that mentioned that the Jays have a realistic chance of unseating Boston from 2nd place in the East, because of the Sox recent collapse.
So my question is...If the Jays finish 2nd in the East, will it make a difference with you in whether or not this year was a step in the right direction? Or is making the playoffs all that really matters?

2nd,3rd,4th.....I never expected this team to Win the Division anyway. Finishing ahead of Boston would be nice, as I don't think we've finished 2nd since winning the division in 1993.

I recall in an alternate universe or something that the feeling was that we were still spinning our wheels, not really making up ground and would still end up in 3rd. That's why I asked. I'd view it as an unexpected surprise, but still overall a disappointment with the record.

It would be fantastic to pass the Red Sox... but much sweeter if it happens as a result of the Jays playing well down the stretch instead of the Sox collapsing.
Not that I won't cheer for a Sox collapse. Ideally, we can have it both ways.
I agree that 2nd and out of the playoffs will still be a disappointment over all... but a fan has to have something to cheer for.
Having said that, was anyone else cheering for a Hinske walk-off grand-slam last night? He'd be an icon overnight.

Blah... who cares. Maybe I might if the team hadn't played like caca the second half.
If the Sox collapse and we manage to pass them playing mediocre ball.... it's a pretty hollow accomplishment.

f'were the Jays to finish second it would be because the Sox came completely unglued and not evidence of anything indicating a positive direction in Toronto.

If we manage that, I will have a happy winter thinking about all those Boston fans who had to go through a classic collapse.
I would consider this season a success if we are within 3 or better of the wild card. But I'd still be happy with a 90+ season, possibly in 2nd place, but 90 wins is still better that 56.
Glad I don't live in KC...
