As the Mets look completely helpless to the Philadelphia Phillies tonight, the team had one bright spot. Jose Reyes became only the seventh New York Met to ever hit three homeruns in a game, and only the second to do it in the past 21 years. Edgardo Alfonzo was the last when he put on a 6-for-6 performance in the Astrodome in 1999.

Suprising considering he is probably the smallest guy in the starting lineup for you guys.

Pretty much, to be fair, tonight's game was in Citizen's Bank Park. Reyes had a multi-homerun game in that Stadium last year, and hit another one there earlier this year. You normally wouldn't expect a leadoff hitter to have six homeruns between three games in an opponent's stadium, but that certainly says something about the park.

The stadium is not as bad as you say. The Phils hit wherever they are.

In a division like the NL East, it is the outcast. Shea Stadium, Turner Field, Pro Player, and RFK Stadium are all described as parks that favor pitchers. That said, I haven't been to them all, but I would say its far and away the nicest.
The Phillies certainly have had a strong lineup that is going to hit wherever they go. They hit well on the road to the point that you would expect them to hit better at home. There slugging percentage is a decent 20 points higher on the road, but the ability to hit homeruns out isn't different at all.
For Jose Reyes, it does seem to be that different. Now its hard to expect anyone to hit many homeruns at Shea Stadium, it just wasn't built for that. However, this year, Reyes has 241 ABs at Shea in which he hit a total of 5 homeruns. He has 241 ABs on the road as well in which he hit 9 homeruns. Thats about what you would expect from Shea. However, he has 33 ABs at Citizen's Bank this year with 4 homeruns. Compare that one to Shea. Granted, three of them came last night where you could argue he was riding a hot streak, but his history at the park has been very well in terms of a guy who only has so much power.

Jose Reyes hitting three homeruns in one game is certainly a surprise (a very good one at that), too bad he did it in a game that the Mets lost. I have no idea if Citizen's Bank Ballpark had anything to do with it, but considering some people have described the stadium as the Coors Field of the east coast, I would not be surprised if the park played a role.

Well, the next game was 3-0. Let's hope for a sweep.

Apparently, the Mets want a chance at the Phillies in the NLCS. The offense has been brutal the past couple days. However, they are up 4-0 now with the John Maine who has since become the Mets best starter. I'm not going to put anything past them though.
