Mrs BA and I were out four-wheeling and getting some rocks for decorating the yard last Friday and came across the coolest snake. It was along the road. I picked it up and it very friendly. It coiled around my wrist and seemed to just want to hang out. The rubber boa is one strange critter. Mrs BA filled me in on some of the strange things about them. They crawl into mouses dens and eat the babies and what they do is mess with the momma mouse with the end of their tail while they eat the babies. While in the den, it fakes out the mouse. The end of the tail looks like their head. They're also known as a two headed snake. The one we found was all chewed at the end. Cool. The tail heals and I guess it's a trade - little baby morsels in exchange for someone chewing on you. They are a true boa. They constrict to kill their prey. The one we found was trying to squeeze my wrist. Here's a link to some info and links to photos. I filled out the survey to let them know when and where I found it. www.rubberboas.com/Content/about.html

Add me to the Wuss list. I don't do snakes, not even little tiny ones. I can't even go into the reptile exhibit at the Philly zoo. They give me the hebee-gebee's.

I hope you got in touch with Samuel L. Jackson, he'll take care of those Snakes on a Wrist.

Here's a another strange thing about these snakes. They have vestiges of rear legs called spurs. Little tiny back legs.
That's sort of creepy.

I used to have a boa...her name was Ruby. The only problem I had was friends eating friends? I'd buy her food & make pets out of them. What can I say? I'm just made that way. ;D

Baids, that's so funny, i didn't know there was a real snake called a rubber boa. I thought you meant an actual latex fake snake. Nice for you to run across a friendly snake.

The snake has a pretty big range. As you can see here it hangs out where plenty of the posters here live ~

That spider that uhhsam posted on the old BBQ however... *shudders* Don't ever live in England then. I'd take a shower before going to work and by the time I got back home, a couple of spiders had already made a web inside the tub. And watching TV would get interesting most nights because I'd have something big running across the floor and Lord knows I couldn't let that continue, so out comes the bugspray (and the baseball bat, I did say they were big spiders, right?).
