What's the best way you can think to get even with someone that has wronged you? Just in case your best way isn't legal, what's the best legal way to get even with someone that has wronged you?

What's the best way you can think to get even with someone that has wronged you? Just in case your best way isn't legal, what's the best legal way to get even with someone that has wronged you? I've given this subject a great deal of thought. I recall the advice provided by Edgar Allen Poe, who in "The Cask of Amontillado" observes that to have satisfactory revenge, certain elements must be present. One is that you must elude further consequences, i.e, do not be caught by authority when acting. Another is that the party upon whon you are avenging yourself, must know that you are responsible for whatever terrible consequences are now falling upon the revengee. Poe has described those things which make proper revenge so difficult, that conflict between masking it from consequence while still leaving a clear signature for the victim. I add to Poe's wisdom, my own thoughts which focus on value received vs time and energy required. If someone has wronged you to the point where you desire revenge, that person gets to continue to wrong you right up until...and through the act of vengeance. Your time is being stolen, your peace of mind is being stolen, and your actual goal is out of reach. If you revenge yourself upon another, does that punished person ever adopt the attitude "I had that coming and now we are even?" Or is the outcome more frequently the escalation of hostilities coupled with the fear of future retaliation? Further, reflecting on times you have gotten revenge, would you say that whatever feelings of vindication that you received were worth it? Did it make you feel good or bad? Were you proud of yourself or ashamed for having indulged your darker impulses? My conclusion is that revenge is a lousy cause because it damages the revenger to as great or greater a degree that it does the revengee. So, what does that leave? Opportunistic revenge. And that is the only sort in which I will indulge. You don't seek revenge, you don't even seek the opportunity, you don't obsess, you don't even hate....but....if fortune, or the foolishness of the offender, should drop some opportunity in front of you, and the Poe elements are present (no backlash, victim knows it is you) then....that is golden revenge. It is ironic justice.

Which way is the weight room? I worked in a hospital pharmacy when I was in high school and among our traditional hazing of new employees was a standard. There would be a fake inventory taken followed by an announcement that while we were well supplied on short weights, we were running out of the long weights. The rookie would be asked to go to Central Suppy and ask for a long weight. Then we would call our friend in Central Supply "Hey, Mary is on her way up to ask for a long wait. Will you accomodate her?" The record was 45 minutes before finally catching on.

How much wood could a woodchuck chuck? I see no reason why they would concern themselves with such matters when pre-chucked wood is now sold cheaply in all the big discount chains.

What is the best Male porn name ever? Funny, just the weekend before this past one I was sitting in the stands at the Oakland Coliseum involved in a discussion on whether Marco Scutaro's name made him sound more like a gay porn star or a Jedi Knight.

My thanks to those who have participated here. I hope to see you back at the old office on FanHome but I am closing down this branch office. I favor a freewheeling board which encourages creativity and isn't concerned with petty matters. Recent events have persuaded me that this board will not be like that, so I have decided to make this hollow, futile gesture of protest.
Goodbye and good luck.
