I have to say, the biggest plus side to this for me is that its finally making me talk to you people after all these years. i guess that evens out for how we feel having you talk to us

I got Text's p-mail and signed up this morning. I go by LongtimeBravesFan on the other board, but decided to be lazy and just use my initials here.

Heh. I was wondering what that meant. What happens if you get 'smitten' too much?

Try to locate a poster named, and I kid you not...."mistergonad". Check out his karma

That was it.
I used the pre-1991 name when I posted on a Braves' team site about 10 years ago. It disappeared and I found basbeall boards and kept the name since a few people from my old board posted there in the beginning. I chose the name because the first thread I posted on was a debate between old time fans (who liked them when they sucked evry year) and the bandwagon fans. I wasnted to show I had always been a fan.
When fanhome changed over to scout everyone had to reregister. I chose a differant name because I'd always hated the old one.
I get called by my initials a lot on scout, so I decided to use it here.

When fanhome changed over to scout everyone had to reregister. I believe that was the day that FanHome truly died. No, not because you re-registered but because of everyone having to change their chosen names, the software and the beginning of long time posters, mods and our higher-ups leaving us.

To me, when the team boards got taken over by the publishers, it was the beginning of the end. The new setup made it harder to navigate between boards, so you had fewer people posting on more than one team board. I used to post a lot on the Mets' board and we had a lot of good Mets fans on our board.
But now we have multiple boards on each team site, some for paying customers only. And you can't get directly from the BBQ to a team board.
I just checked on the scout MLB board and the last post on the front page had its last response on July 21st. Three weeks and that little traffic. There used to be a totally new page every few days.
If it weren't for the BBQ boards, I'd rarely post. I still go the Braves board a good bit, but its not the same. No one really left from the old days. Mention Nocahoma on there and everybody will think of the old mascot and not the best mod on that board.
If they dropped the BBQs, I wouldn't go there at all. Its not the community it once was.

It was silly to have to suddenly ask permission to go on certain teams' boards of a site that I modded and was a member of since '99. That's what irked me the most.
It's nice to be back on a real fanhome. I like the HomeFan name, it's so secret and cloak and daggerish.

Heh. I was wondering what that meant. What happens if you get 'smitten' too much? The software automatically bans you for a week. Good to have you here, Hawk. You've been exhalted again.
