ok, well that filled in some of the holes
The three month agreement works to your favor....
I have no experience or even knowledge of Hosting Matters as a host, but when it comes time for renewal I would definitely do some bargaining or move.
Just as a starting point, you can get 40gb of bandwith and 500gb of storage from lunarpages for $7.95 per month for a year ($6.95 if you make a two year commitment). And they provide the domain name for as long as you hold the account.
The nickel and dime stuff isn't that critical, as you noted, but the 40 percent boost in bandwith could prove useful down the road. Every but helps. As you set up your vbulletin theme, check to make sure the graphics are optimzed as much as possible (even smilies, every kb counts)

I just sent a little cash.
But, darn it, this time I was promised a paying mod job, not the other way around!

Thanks Molitov got it. Jeff, I have to say a huge thank you to you for your contribution. Once we go big and own a building in some downtown area of a metropolis, I'm going to see to it that a statute of your likeness is constructed in the fountain out front. Really dude, thanks so much. gerry, thanks for the tip. I chose Host Matters when it was recommended to me by a good friend. I'll certainly look into your suggestion for the future though as I don't think it will be look before we are there.

The front page has been updated with its current look. We all owe a very big thanks to FPN who was so great as to come up with various logos and banners including what you see here. The forums are still closed, but will be open very soon. Enjoy! www.TheScoreBoards.com

Hi all again. If you give a link to your pay pal account I'll send a few dollars. For me it has to be the first of the month to have any $$$$$....that's how it is for us old folks....

Nice looking front page ... crisp and clean. Good work FPN.
As for naming rights ... I'm involved in a couple of charitable trusts and let me tell you ... it usually takes a lot more than that to get your name or likeness on a building. Don't be a cheap date :0)

Hey sun face here (sorry I'm at work and don't have my account info here). Is there a reason why you're choosing "Host Matters"? GoDaddy's reputation is awesome and WAY cheaper. Check it - www.godaddy.com/gdshop/offers/cross_sell.asp?se=%2B&ci=6018For $3.59 a month, you get Economy: 5,000 MB Disk Space, 250,000 MB Data Transfer, 500 Email Accounts, 50 Forwarding accounts, 10 MySQL Databases For $5.59 a month, you get Deluxe: 100,000 MB Disk Space, 1,000,000 MB Data Transfer, 1000 Email Accounts, Unlimited Forwarding accounts, 25 MySQL Databases, SQL Server 2000, Free Linux Items or Free Windows Items and for $13.49 a month, you get Premium: 200,000 MB Disk Space, 2,000,000 MB Data Transfer, 2000 Email Accounts, Unlimited Forwarding accounts, 50 MySQL Databases, SQL Server 2000, Free Linux Items or Free Windows Items You're paying about $11 a month for 23gb of bandwidth? For only $3.50 a month you get 250gb of bandwidth (more than 10x what you have) and 5,000mb of storage (more than 12x what you have now). In other words, you should either have a really good reason for choosing "Host matters," or you should really move over to GoDaddy. I run a forum on GoDaddy's servers and have never experienced interruption of service, or any hassles. It's easy and it's cheap.

Well it would have been good to show up before now. Regardless, being that this site will be a forum, I'm not going near a plan like that that offers "unlimited" bandwidth as that is suggesting with 250 GB. There are far too many catches for something like that.

Three months should give you enough time to gauge your needs, but I must confess, when I saw those numbers I was incredulous....thought for sure he was mistaken, but that does not appear to be the case.
100 gb storage and 1,000 gb of transfer for $5.99 is a pretty stellar deal....makes me wonder how they can do that....

I've been told numerous times to avoid places that given you such great bandwidth for a small price. As I understand it, if you begin to use up a significant amount of it, your website may suddenly, and "mysteriously" go down for a period of time. I've read the bandwidth is shared between sites, so its best to avoid them if you think you might use a significant amount. That said, being that this will be a forum meaning we will likely use a lot, I have a hard time relying on such numbers.

GoDaddy is very reliable and was recommended to me by a very knowledgeable web guy. Like I said, I've been running a forum on it (though not using nearly the bandwidth limit) and have had zero problems. As I understand it, they work on VOLUME! Seriously no joke, they represent a ton of website and hence they charge really good rates.
Personally I would rather go with a host that promises high and underdelivers as opposed to a host that promises very little but can really accomplish it. The package you've got will probably not suffice, so does it really matter whether it will be delivered appropriately?
Furthermore, unless you've done a lot of research into the host you have chosen, there's no telling that you won't have more problems with it than with any other host. Lots of hosts suck and in my experience, go with ones that have a track record you can point to. In this case I can really only give my own experiences, but my web friend (he's a like a webmaster at U of T) has set up a number of sites through them that are quite sophisticated and has had no problems whatsoever.
At any rate, it's your decision! But I still think that the hosting package you've chosen sounds very expensive.

Thanks for the input. There is a pretty good chance we might be headed in your direction.
