Because of the error in the last poll voting for a name, I've decided to do it again. With the 4 more popular choices ONLY.
As it was mentioned in the other thread, ".net" might be more suitable for us, as we are a network of sports fans, and friends. Thanks to GLG for that quote.
I've included HomeFan.net...somewhat similar to what we have going here. That seemed to gain in popularity once it was mentioned.
So I figured if we were going to do something it was better to do it twice and get it right...than be kicking ourselves later.
So let's VOTE!

I think I should mention that I think that everyone thinks of websites in terms of .com.
That would bring many more people here.

As mentioned, .com is a huge help. I know .net is considered a network, and .com is considered commercial, but bringing more people in to chat here is the goal. That said, when people hear .com, they don't think commercial, they think website. When people think of a website, they think .com. The .net sites are few and far between, and I think it would be a huge help to stick with .com.

I know basketballboards.net has over 22,000 registered users, which is really good for an all-basketball site. A .com site would be preferable, but I don't see it as vital. Being different could potentially make the site more popular and easier to remember.

Well hey, I'm sure everyone will support whatever name we get. I'm simply happy getting better boards after years of the same.

lol! heh! Even home4fans.net is available. I still like intrasports.net, but homefan.net isn't bad. Also, the point about bookmarking is important. Look at the convoluted URL that Scout gave us? www.fanhome.com is long gone, but we still managed to find the site. Imagine remembering this URL for the Leafs board: citadel6.ezboard.com/ftorontomapleleafsfrm1or the current one: mb3.scout.com/ftorontomapleleafsfrm1 Both "dot coms" and both with extra unnecessary verbage. What's with the "mb3" and the "f" before the team name? Why the "frm1" after the name? I'm sticking with intrasports.net It upholds the multi-sport nature of the forum, while using the "dot net" networking idea. Plus, it's easy to remember. www.intrasports.net

Chalk up another for homefan.net. I like the sound of it and the whole .net v. .com is of no importance...to me at least.

only problem with a .com, is that it costs money, and when you grab a Site that costs money and you cant afford the domain fee's every month, then you have to start putting Ads in your website, and before you know it, its Scout.com all over again. Go with a .net as they are cheaper(sometimes free) www.sportsfan.net or www.homefan.net

We talked about it for a long time today, taking into account both polls that ran in the past few days. I appreciate all the input from everyone, but let me not forget to give credit to fmradio who came up with the name for our new system of forums: www.thescoreboards.comThat said, I hope everyone likes the name to a degree. Nevertheless, the name is not what will make the community, it will be the members as its always been. The domain and space has been set aside, but as you may notice, it doesn't yet work. We will be working closely to have a forum up and running there within a manner of days that will mimic the likes of this and the Fanhome we were use to. I'm going to do what I can to make things easier whereas everyone doesn't have to re-register. No promises, but I'll see what I can do.

Cools. Thanks for coming to a decision this quickly. I'm really looking forward to the board upgrade. Have you guys decided who to use?
